Hakim is a specialized group of experienced lawyers who, with more than 20 years of legal experience in the Federal Republic of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, provide comprehensive legal services to domestic and international individuals, companies, and investors. This complex was established about 15 years ago with the aim of combining the knowledge, experience, and capabilities of a group of experienced lawyers to provide legal services with a specialized, precise, and professional approach.
The main focus of the ruling is on intellectual property rights and trademark protection. These services cover all stages from examination and inquiry, trademark registration, follow-up of administrative procedures, handling objections, filing and pursuing related lawsuits, and defending intellectual property rights, to the final receipt of the registration certificate. In addition to this area of expertise, Hakim’s legal team also provides services for registering and establishing various types of companies, including limited liability companies (LLCs) and other legal entities, residency matters, legal claims, commercial claims, criminal claims, and personal status matters.
Over the years of its activity, this group has succeeded in registering and protecting more than 4,000 trademarks, handling more than 2,000 lawsuits, handling more than 30,000 residency cases, and registering more than 10,000 companies. More than 2,000 trademark registration cases in this group have been related to foreign companies and investors, which reflects extensive experience in providing international legal services.
The specialized focus of this collection is on the field of intellectual property rights. Our members were among the first activists in this field in Federal Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and based on years of experience, they provide legal services in the shortest possible time and with the highest professional standards.
In addition to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, Haqma also provides trademark registration and protection services in the European Union, enabling its clients to protect brands in international markets.
The trademark registration process in Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and the European Union usually takes between 6 and 9 months.
The duration of company registration and establishment is typically 20 to 30 business days, and the duration of residency is approximately 10 business days.
In most legal services, including trademark registration and protection and litigation, the presence of the applicant is not required, and all procedures can be carried out by granting power of attorney to attorneys. Only in some matters, including company registration and residency procedures, will the applicant’s presence be necessary in accordance with legal requirements.
To register and protect a trademark, you will need to provide identification documents, a passport photo, documents related to brand ownership or business activity, and an official translation of the documents. Translations must be approved by the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in accordance with regulations to enable legal procedures to be carried out.
